Be Prepared for Cashless Tolling

The New York State Thruway is moving toward cashless tolling. Cashless tolling reduces congestion, improves traffic flow, is better for the environment and allows for nonstop travel on New York’s toll roads, bridges and tunnels. The Thruway expects to be completely cashless by November 2020.  

Be prepared by purchasing an E-Z Pass On the Go tag at your local AAA Northway office. The tags are just $23 for AAA members and come preloaded with $25. E-Z Pass On the Go makes passing through cashless tolls more convenient.  

If you don’t have an E-Z Pass tag, the toll readers will capture the license plate number of the vehicle and the Thruway will send a toll bill to the registered  owner’s home address.  In addition, E-Z Pass is accepted in other states, including New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
