Rocky Mountaineer Luxury Train Trips

NOW SERVING THE U.S.
AAA Travel Team

Rocky Mountaineer is expanding its awardwinning luxury train experience into the United States. Travel between Denver and Moab by luxury train onboard Rocky Mountaineer’s Rockies to the Red Rocks route. Like their three Canadian rail routes, this two-day journey through America’s Southwest is steeped in history and full of opportunities to explore magnificent scenery and iconic destinations. Get the sense of adventure you crave with the exceptional service you deserve on this journey of a lifetime.

Between Denver and Glenwood Springs, guests will journey alongside the Colorado River and through a series of canyons. A key highlight is the Big Ten Curve, an engineering marvel built in the
early 1900s, to enable trains to slowly gain elevation before reaching the Continental Divide. Take in the scenic views of the Gross Reservoir dam before passing through Moffat Tunnel and emerge on the western side of the Continental Divide. This railway tunnel opened in 1928 and cuts through 6.3 miles of mountainous terrain. Next up is a series of picturesque canyons offering rugged scenery of steep rock walls, including Byers and Gore canyons. The canyons offer opportunities to view roaming wildlife, including bighorn sheep, mountain lions, deer, marmots and birds.

The journey between Glenwood Springs and Moab offers an array of scenery past mountain vistas, desert cliffs and amazing rock formations. Pass by Parachute Creek and Mount Logan toward
De Beque Canyon, a 15-mile long narrow canyon with stair-step cliffs of sedimentary rock layers. Easy to spot at 6,600 feet is Mount Garfield, the highest point of the Book Cliffs. These sandstone cliffs and mountains stretch nearly 200 miles from west to east. The train continues to follow the Colorado River as it crosses over the state line between Mack, Colorado, and Westwater, Utah. Take
in the stunning red rock formations lining the cliffs in Ruby Canyon, only accessible by train or from the river. This canyon is 25 miles long and takes its name from the red sandstone cliffs that line the canyon walls. After crossing over the Colorado-Utah state line, guests will enjoy a view of Mount Peale, the highest point of the La Sal Mountains at 12,726 feet. As the train approaches Moab, you will be greeted by its brilliant red sandstone backdrop, experiencing your first glimpse of the iconic Arches National Park.
