Winter Activities Close to Home

AAA Travel Team

Winter vacations have looked a bit different over the past couple of years, with more people choosing to stay closer to home instead of flying off to warmer destinations.

For those in the Northeast, that means embracing the region’s winter transformation. Fortunately, the area is one of the best locales to enjoy the season, with ample outdoor activities and attractions open year-round.

Here are some local winter activities and road trips to take this year.

Lake George

Lake George Village offers a month-long celebration of winter during this annual family-friendly festival. The Lake George Winter Carnival takes place each weekend throughout February. For 2022, that's February 5 & 6, 12 & 13, 19 & 20, and 26 & 27.  Kids can participate in children's activities, go for a pony ride, and toast marshmallows on the beach. And that's just a sample; there's so much fun for everyone.
